Our family has been blessed to work with Dr. Sylvia Diehl. I can honestly say that I don't know what we would have done without her guidance and assistance. Her parent information helped us understand the diagnosis and provided instruction on evidence-based practices we could use with our son. Through her support and guidance, we were able to improve our communication with our son, provide him the support and interventions he needed, and allow him to grow and develop the necessary skills need to be successful in all areas of his life, especially in the school environment. We are truly fortunate to her in our lives! Eric and Andrea Smith

Sylvia Diehl is as talented as she is kind, respectful and compassionate. For my family, being able to work with Sylvia is akin to finding a 10 carat diamond ring at the bottom of a Cracker Jacks’ box. Sylvia’s talent as a renowned academician is unquestionable. With the community at large a 24/7 classroom at her disposal, she takes the natural environment, applies evidenced based programming with researched materials and techniques and combines them with the nuances necessary to help a child achieve success. Many clinicians read publications, make a plan and have a passion for what they do; yet, having a passion is only beneficial if you are continually thinking, learning from your clients and professional resources and applying that knowledge. Many clinicians say they have been doing something for years; yet, while experience can be a positive, longevity requires only stamina not growth. Sylvia’s clinical and academic reputation is one of distinction, she authors the publications from which others learn. An extraordinary teacher she is similarly skilled as a life learner which allows her to grow as a professional. With passion, she combines evidence based practice with an innate ability to reach our son and help him achieve a more comfortable and engaging life. Descriptive language sets both the tone and the path; it all depends on how we as a family perceive the situation presented. Our son understands that Sylvia applauds his successes and sees his challenges as opportunities for growth. Often his inability to successfully communicate can lead to anxiety and frustration. When a challenge presents itself, our son looks to Sylvia as a living Mary Poppins, she reframes the situation and provides him with the tools needed so that he can manage his anxiety, reduce his frustration and successfully communicate. The importance of parent training, support, involvement and consistency cannot be overstated. Sylvia looks at family dynamics to ensure client success and approaches her training in a manner that recognizes the nuances that are distinct to each family. More than a mere validation of parental concern Sylvia hears our concerns and uses evidenced based protocols to help our son to achieve successful communication. Recognizing that success is not achieved in a vacuum, she teaches all of us how to help expand his communication skills. Sylvia listened, she heard us and she watched our son interact. Only then did she process what we said and what she saw to apply her knowledge and skill to help find ways to assist our son. With a greater ability to communicate, family frustration is minimized, his self advocacy skills are evident and his self esteem continues to grow. Working with Sylvia is an honor and an opportunity not to be missed. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to write this review; I pen this with gratitude and respect for all that you have done and continue to do.

Dr. Diehl became has been a part of our family’s life for 15 years. We were so fortunate that she was a consultant to our school district and helped our team develop a plan to teach our daughter with autism to be an effective communication partner and a successful student. Sylvia offered invaluable strategies, tips and tricks to the educators as well as providing direct training to me as a parent to be able to understand and carry over the evidence-based practices at home. Today, our daughter is a capable twenty-three-year-old. She graduated from high school and has her certificate in graphic design. The knowledge Dr. Diehl shared with our family over the years has guided our parenting decisions and been the foundation of our daughter’s success.
